Philadelphia Science Festival Science Carnival After Hours

OUTABOUT3It’s that time of year when the weather warms up, the flowers bloom, the sneezing commences, and the Philadelphia Science Festival returns to encourage the City of Brotherly Love to get nerdy! This year, the Philadelphia Science Festival Kick Off Party will be hosted at the Franklin Institute’s Science Carnival After Hours. Beginning at 6:30 on the evening of Friday, April 25, the Carnival After Hours will feature live science demonstrations, food and drink available for purchase, science chats, and all-around carnival chaos.

Because the kick off party is a 21+ event, the Philly EMP board has decided to have our first EMP Meet Up at this event. Get your tickets ahead of time at the Science Fest website, register and get your wristbands upon arriving, grab a drink at one of the two bars (one in the main atrium, another in the Planetarium hallway), and meet us by the Photobot in the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial for some fun photos at 6:45. From there we will check out the Franklin Institute’s “Best Of” live show at 7:15 which is sure to include its fair share of science, bad jokes, and explosions.

Once the show is over, feel free to wander around the museum and enjoy the multitude of science programs that will be happening all around you. If the Franklin Institute’s recent MacGyver Night was any indication, it may take you the entire evening to experience all there is to see. Not to mention that the Kick-Off Party will feature the official first tap of the Science Festival Beer courtesy of Yards.
