Postcard Portfolio: Balboa Park

A popular topic of discussion among EMPs is out of town museum experiences. Museum professionals seem to enjoy visiting museums in other parts of the world and dissecting their experience. It seemed logical that, as we traverse the globe, we share our museum experiences with you. Each addition to our Postcard Portfolio will provide a brief snapshot of our exhibit as we see the world one museum at a time.

The Visit: Friday, May 2, 2014

The Best Thing: Seventeen museums in a beautiful park with fantastic Spanish architecture.

The Worst Thing: Most of the museums I visited did not make the best use of their space.

Why You Should Go: It’s a great way to spend a day, wandering around the park and popping in and out of a variety of museums.

Highlights:

  • The staff at the Mingwei International Museum
  • The beautiful buildings, gardens, and fountains
  • Extremely pleasant and helpful staff in Visitor’s Center
  • Balboa Park offers a little something for everyone

Promenades like this one can be found all over Balboa Park

The park has several pools, fountains, and gardens to compliment the stunning Spanish architecture
