The mission of Glen Foerd on the Delaware is to connect visitors to the legacy of Glen Foerd through programs in the arts, nature and history and to preserve and protect the landscape, buildings and collections for the enjoyment and enrichment of the community and future generations. The historic estate is a public park owned by the City of Philadelphia and managed and operated by the Glen Foerd Conservation Corporation.
Located on 18-acres at the confluence of the Poquessing Creek and Delaware River, Glen Foerd is the only historic estate along the Delaware River open to the public. The combination of its waterfront location, historical context, cultural landscape, and significant art collection offers an exceptional opportunity to explore the intersection of art, history, horticulture and the environment. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and its grounds are listed as a Historic American Landscape Survey.
Email resume and cover letter to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Glen Foerd is an equal opportunity employer.
Working at a historic house/site is a fantastic way to get hands on experience with a variety of useful skills. The staff is smaller which usually lends itself to a lot of collaboration, learning new fields on the job, and a strong investment in the mission. This particular position looks like a great opportunity for EMPs on the second step of their career. Unfortunately, the position is part-time, so we would recommend pairing this with a part-time, frontline position at another institution. After a few years of this work, your resume will be quite attractive to a variety of institutions. If the mission of Glen Foerd on the Delaware inspires you, we encourage you to apply for this position and bring your passion to their site.
